Tim Karcher doesn’t remember much from the summer of 2009. The U.S. Army veteran spent six weeks lying in a hospital bed at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington, D.C., followed by seven more weeks at Brooke Army Medical Center near his home in Harker Heights, Texas.
At age two, Caitlin Evans was diagnosed with brain cancer. Her parents were told she may never talk, walk or even swallow. Two brain-tumor surgeries, one eye surgery, 97 transfusions, and multiple rounds of chemo and radiation later, Caitlin not only walks and talks, but she’s now working to complete her senior year at Central State Connecticut University.
Over one week, 12 Chick-fil-A Team Members, across the country, got the surprise of their lives. From South Jordan, Utah, to Wallingford, Conn., it was our pleasure to award $25,000 True Inspiration Scholarships to these hard-working individuals who are leaders inside our restaurants -- and out in their communities.
