An uncertain period provided a strong foundation for this scholarship recipient
As a freshman in high school, Anna King didn’t expect her life to be abruptly uprooted. After her father lost his job, he was out of work for nearly four years – a period of uncertainty and hardship that would alter her path for years to come. Eventually, after he secured a new job, King and her family moved to Florida and she began her senior year in a new state.
She went on to graduate high school with a 4.0 GPA but delayed going to college for two years so she could save money to help pay tuition. She began working at the St. Augustine Chick-fil-A, rising the ranks to a management position at the restaurant.
“When I arrive at the restaurant and see Anna leading our drive-thru, I know it’s going to be a great day, and perhaps even a record-breaking day,” said Wayne Efford, the restaurant’s franchise Operator. “She has a level of judgment for someone way beyond their years, consistently applying great decision-making abilities to provide our drive-thru guests a memorable experience.”
King’s dedication culminated this spring when Efford shared the news that Anna had been selected as one of 13 Chick-fil-A Team Members to receive a $25,000 Chick-fil-A True Inspiration Scholarship for her outstanding leadership, academic achievement and community involvement.
