Inside Chick-fil-A

Despite obstacles, this scholarship winner has big dreams for the future

Pursuing a future in the field of forensic pathology might be a career journey that some wouldn’t be able to stomach, but Bailey Wilhoit knows she has the fortitude to make it.

After watching her parents battle substance addiction throughout her young life, she and her siblings were taken in by their grandmother. She always embraced the responsibility of helping raise her siblings and providing financially for the family, contributing what she could to help make ends meet from the time she was 14-years-old.

She knew a college education was essential to becoming a forensic pathologist, but she was doubtful about whether she could ever attend college. She didn’t want to be a financial burden for her grandmother, who sacrificed greatly to take care of her and her siblings. So, she worked hard to earn the best grades possible and it opened doors to opportunities that helped her attend the college of her choice.

This year, Wilhoit was selected as one of 13 Chick-fil-A Team members to receive a $25,000 True Inspiration Scholarship for her outstanding leadership, academic achievement and community involvement. Jason Williams, the franchise Operator of the Chick-fil-A in James Island, South Carolina, delivered the exciting news.

“Bailey has been dedicated to Chick-fil-A, all while working hard and pursuing her dreams,” said Williams. “This scholarship will help her reach those dreams.”
