The Chick-fil-A breakfast menu was first introduced in 1986, and the inaugural breakfast item was the Chicken Biscuit. Since then, we have expanded our menu to include other beloved items like the Chick-n-Minis, Egg White Grill and Greek Yogurt Parfait.

In 2015, Chick-fil-A Team Members around the country squeezed nearly 297 million Sunkist® lemons to make our fresh-squeezed lemonade. Extra fun fact: Chick-fil-A is the largest purchaser of lemons in the world!

Chick-fil-A made headlines in 2004 when it was the first in the industry to offer a fresh fruit cup as a side item for kid’s meals and other combo meals.

Local Chick-fil-A restaurants around the country use 100 percent refined peanut oil to pressure-cook all of its breaded chicken. That’s a lot of peanut oil! The decision to use peanut oil was made by Chick-fil-A Founder S. Truett Cathy after experimenting with various other oils.

6. Why is the “A” in Chick-fil-A capitalized?

Although many customers believe it to be happenstance or arbitrary, Chick-fil-A Founder Truett Cathy gave great consideration to the name of his restaurant, including the capitalization of the letter “A,” which symbolizes the top-notch quality of the food and service at Chick-fil-A restaurants.

7. Where did the name “Chick-fil-A” come from?

Chick-fil-A is a take on “chicken fillet.” Truett Cathy gave the restaurant its unusual name so that a nation just falling in love with fast-food hamburgers might better understand his product: Chick-fil-A (short for chicken fillet) was meant to suggest a chicken steak.

It took Truett Cathy four years to perfect the recipe for his notorious chicken sandwich. And since then, it has never changed. The original recipe remains locked in a vault at Chick-fil-A’s headquarters in Atlanta.
